Often times we tend to be a follower rather than a leader. At times that can be good but on the other hand it can get us in a lot of trouble. Once we start falling into the habit of being a follower we fall into the trap of becoming someone we’re not. This could be for many reasons, just to name a few; wanting to “fit in”, fear of being judged, and just simply not knowing what our destiny is in life or where God wants us to go.
Having some experience in the past couple years I’ve learned that girls tend to think they need that guy or a certain person in their life to “complete” them. Well let me tell you first hand; the only person you need to “complete” you is God. Take some time to be single and reflect on what your beliefs and values are, where you stand with different situations, and what you want your future to look like for YOU.
In everything you do follow the ways of the Lord. If you get on the wrong path or stray away listen to those trying to steer you back. There are going to be some rough patches in your life but with God leading, you following him, and then you leading others in his light, life will tend to be a little easier and joyous.
1 Peter 5:6
So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you, he’ll promote you at the right time.
“Nothing good happens after dark.”
Over the years I’ve heard this certain phrase, told to me many times, over and over again. I guess I’ve never really thought deeply about its meaning. As I’m sitting here tonight this phrase has been running through my mind and has got me thinking, how can this phrase actually be wrong, but for the right reasons?
Through everything we do in life it should all be for one person, Jesus. Many of us are guilty of putting other things before him, even me, but there are ways we can change that. Just taking a little time out of each day and set it aside to spend time in the word. The more you do it the more of a habit it becomes and you eventually get to the point where no time is enough time to be engrossed in the word.
When is comes down to the whole, “nothing good happens after dark”, there are many good things that can happen. One of the main ones would be spending time focusing on your spiritual life. Late at night when you have everything put away and can just focus, it can renew you and help you feel better. Most of us go day by day acting like everything’s ok with our “mask” on, but deep down we all have something going on. As God’s children we should rely on him and ask him to help us to get through whatever’s going on. Along with that, we should all be there for each other as children of God.
Today go out and be an encouragement to someone and set aside some quality time to spend with the one who created you in his perfect image.
Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. – Hebrews 10:25
